Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the site needs, we don’t run ads, and we never sell your information.

Effective

1. Who we are

MedMoneyGuide (medmoneyguide.com) is an independent financial education site for physicians, founded and operated by Joshua Dunigan, DO, in Des Moines, Iowa. In this policy, “MedMoneyGuide,” “we,” and “us” mean the operator of this site. This policy covers the website, free accounts, the dashboard, calculators, and our emails.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, and password. If you use Google sign-in, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us
  • Onboarding and dashboard information you choose to enter, such as career stage and training year, specialty, state, income, filing status and dependents, account and loan balances, interest rates, PSLF payment count, goals, and alert preferences
  • Calculator results you choose to save to your dashboard
  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email and career stage, plus the loan balance and rate you enter if you request our refinance playbook
  • Anything you send us by email

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser type, IP address, and approximate location
  • Pages you visit, how you arrived, and how you use the site, through Google Analytics if you allow analytics cookies
  • Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability

Information we don’t collect

We never ask for Social Security numbers, bank or loan servicer logins, credit reports, payment card details, or health records.

3. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and keep you signed in
  • To show your dashboard, calculations, and personalized guide and calculator recommendations
  • To send emails you ask for or that your account needs: sign-in links, password resets, the newsletter, and alerts you turn on
  • To understand which pages and tools are useful and to fix problems
  • To respond to your messages and correction reports
  • To prevent abuse and meet legal obligations

We don’t use your dashboard numbers for advertising, and we don’t make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. How we share information

We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, under their own security and privacy commitments:

  • Vercel: website hosting
  • Supabase: accounts, authentication, and database
  • Resend: email delivery
  • Google: analytics (if you allow it) and Google sign-in (if you use it)

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

Affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the company you visit and its affiliate network (such as Impact or FlexOffers) may learn that you came from MedMoneyGuide and may set their own cookies on their sites. We don’t send them your account or dashboard information. Their privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

5. Cookies and analytics

Advertising

We don’t run display ads and don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

6. How long we keep information

  • Account and dashboard data: while your account is open. Delete your account anytime from Profile & settings, and we remove your profile, dashboard data, saved results, and alert history right away
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe
  • Analytics: kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings, in a form that doesn’t identify you by name
  • Emails you send us: as long as needed to respond and keep a record of corrections

7. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and database rules that keep each account’s data private to that account. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Details are on our Security page.

We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To protect your account, we’ll confirm requests from the email address on the account, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights.
